Periodontology is the part of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases that affect the supporting apparatus of the teeth, primarily the gums, jawbone and periodontal fibers that are responsible for maintaining the teeth in the jaw.

Periodontal diseases are caused by numerous factors, primarily the accumulation of soft deposits and tartar on the teeth. Causes can be inadequate prosthetic work, inadequate fillings as well as some bad habits (breathing through the mouth, chewing food on one side only, etc.). Also, the appearance of periodontal diseases is associated with certain diseases such as leukemia, diabetes, as well as with hormonal imbalance during pregnancy or puberty.

Tooth loss

One of the characteristics of PERIODONTOPATHY, the most common periodontal disease, is that it never heals spontaneously and certainly in a shorter or longer time interval, if left untreated, leads to tooth loss.

Therefore, if you notice that your gums are swollen, red, painful, often bleeding, make an appointment with a dentist. Then, with adequate conversation and advice, we can control and cure the problem. We can cure the developed degree of periodontitis and prevent its further destructive course.

Dental treatment

The treatment of periodontitis that we perform in the C Dental Center, depending on the stage of the disease, can be conservative and surgical.

It is important to emphasize that therapy with local anesthesia is painless in both approaches.

Conservative dental treatment

Conservative treatment of periodontitis implies

  • Regular cleaning of tartar and removal of soft deposits by polishing and Air flow device every 4-6 months
  • Curettage of periodontal pockets with special instruments with rinsing with appropriate medications
  • Elimination of deposits stops tissue destruction and reduces the depth of the pockets. There are no good conditions for the growth of bacteria in shallow pockets, which results in improved periodontal health.

Surgical treatment of teeth

Surgical treatment of periodontitis is applied when the disease has advanced and a conservative approach cannot give the desired result.

In that case, the periodontal pocket is surgically accessed and all pathological contents are removed from it under the control of the eye. Furthermore, in order to restore the tissue in the resulting defect, appropriate regenerative materials are placed, which aim to accelerate the creation of new elements of the supporting apparatus of the tooth, which contributes to its fixation and longer survival in the jaw.

Laser treatment

Laser treatment is the most modern type of periodontal therapy.

Laser fiber optic periodontal pocket treatment is a minimally invasive therapy that enables painless elimination of harmful bacteria, reduces inflammation and stimulates tissue regeneration.

Necessary

In order to stabilize the results, prosthetic care of treated teeth, crowns or bridges is often necessary, in order to prevent their further movement and to achieve proper pressure transfer to all teeth in the function of chewing.

Also, what should be emphasized is that without adequate oral hygiene there is no successful treatment for periodontitis.
